Kyle's Steam news post Demo Releasing April 23rd announced the upcoming free demo and pointed at a trailer. The YouTube id attached to that announcement is BX65WHpZQkc. Two days later the demo app went live.

30 April 2026: A small demo update has gone live
Kyle posted A small demo update has gone live. The public change list: a silent crash fix, bubble aiming UI, coyote time on oil flask healing, and a hunter cabin trinket mention. Those are the verbs. Unposted patch notes are not added on top.
12 June 2026: New demo update and Steam Next Fest participation
A news post added postbox letters from characters, replayable time trials, and Next Fest beginning 15 June. Letters are a character channel. Time trials are a replay mode. Both arrived before the numbered 1.031 stamp.
14 June 2026: Demo v 1.031 update
Demo v 1.031 listed bubble onboarding, aim assist, extra healing in optional challenge rooms, and bug plus localization fixes. The version string is Kyle's. Optional challenge rooms are the only place that post puts extra healing.
15 June 2026: WELL DWELLER is taking part in Steam Next Fest
The Next Fest post says WELL DWELLER is taking part in Steam Next Fest and notes further bubble level-design and aiming tweaks. Next Fest is the public play event. The full game then shipped on 22 September 2026.
The Well Dweller demo launched 23 April 2026 as Steam app 4540890, a free demo of full game 3699590. Kyle announced it two days earlier, patched bubbles and flask healing on 30 April, added postbox letters and time trials on 12 June, shipped Demo v 1.031 on 14 June, and joined Steam Next Fest on 15 June. What the demo app is
Steam demo 4540890 is type demo with fullgame 3699590. It is free. It is not the 22 September 2026 release. Languages listed on the demo API include English, French, German, Spanish from Spain, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Portuguese from Portugal, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish from Latin America, and Traditional Chinese, a slightly different set than the full game's ten-language store list. Use the demo store JSON for demo languages and the full game page for the release list.
The official demo trailer on this page is Kyle Thompson's YouTube upload. Play is click-to-load. Discord from the launch news is the community door Kyle actually printed. isletsgame.com remains the Islets support URL accidentally sitting on the full game's Steam website field; it is not a Well Dweller demo hub.
Because the demo is historical after the September release, the demo route stays versioned. Current play advice for the paid game lives on Platforms and the other system routes. Come here when you want the dated bubble and flask work, not when you want the 41-achievement ledger.
Bubbles, flasks, letters, trials
Kyle patched the bubble mechanic several times after aiming and onboarding feedback. 30 April added a bubble aiming UI. 14 June added bubble onboarding and aim assist. 15 June added further bubble level-design and aiming tweaks for Next Fest. That repetition is the story: bubbles were hard to teach, and he kept teaching them in public posts.
Oil flask healing gained coyote time on 30 April. Extra healing in optional challenge rooms arrived in 1.031. Coyote time is a forgiveness window on the heal, named in the patch, not a hidden computed stat. Optional challenge rooms are a demo structure. Whether they remain in the full game is a full-game question, not a demo-page invention.
Postbox letters from characters and replayable time trials arrived on 12 June. Letters are another way the underbelly cast talks besides camping with Ilda. Time trials are a replay tool. Neither post lists times, medals, or letter authors. The honest page stops at the nouns Kyle used.
After Next Fest
Steam Next Fest beginning 15 June 2026 is the last dated demo event in the captured news set. The full game then released on 22 September 2026 with the 41-achievement board and the console storefronts. Do not read the demo patch list as the live full-game patch list.
A hunter cabin trinket in the 30 April notes is a patch-note noun. It is not one of the 32 unnamed trinkets promoted to an official name. Trinkets still refuses a fake dex. The cabin mention stays here as a demo-era breadcrumb.
If you still want the demo app, it remains a Steam demo of 3699590. For the paid product, open the Steam page or the console links on Platforms. For the 41 icons, use 41 Steam Achievements.
22 September 2026 is the full release date on Steam, coming_soon false. Demo v 1.031 remains a demo stamp. If a later full-game patch reuses bubble language, it will need its own news citation. This route stops at Next Fest plus the launch date that closed the demo period.

After 22 September 2026 the paid game is the current version. Keep this route for the demo app and the Next Fest work. Keep Platforms for live storefronts. Keep Achievements for the 41 icons that shipped with the full release.
